Firstly, thank you for your pieces on developing websites and the things you went through with your previous endeavors. Alongside that, I want to let you know that your commentary here has a very similar affect on me to what you seem to convey you feel from Joel. Best wishes.
I wanted to get your thoughts on something. Do you think that its true that people on the internet are avoiding dissenting opinions? I for one have subscriptions to a number of RSS feeds from a variety of topics that range from comp-sci to evolution to archaeologies and would assume that other people do as well, but how realistic am I being?
Anyways, thanks for being cool.

When money is not an object…

I had a pleasant discussion with this woman in my class today about money and the age old question - If you had all the money in the universe what would you choose to do with yourself? The question started with discussion of a few of her professors, sparked by a question I had earlier in class. Why are many instructors retired? It seems to me that retirement is an odd time to begin teaching, but far be it for me to complain. I plan to become a teacher and hopefully ill be one for years, but I digress. Many of the instructors I am interacting with are well endowed, and for that reason money has become no object.

For some reason there are a number of you viewers who have written to me over the last couple months about getting a webcam for my room so you could watch me as I work… far too hard I might add …on my game, applications, utilities etc, or just plain gaming. I have been thinking about this for quite some time, and I am fairly certain that this wont be happening any time soon, and don’t plan for it to happen in the future. There are many reasons for this to be, but ill highlight a couple of them.
1) You really don’t want to watch me masturbate.

(No Ratings Yet) Loading ...this past week I have probably received the most emails than any other with this site functioning. Everyone is absolutely amazing, and from the input that I got, you may have noticed a few changes to the site… nudge nudge wink wink. I had originally gone with the red colored layout but I had a few people tell me they didn’t like it, but with this new group of folks who actually email, I am newly driven to continue my redness. I also turned on the fixed width page layout, mainly to appease some of the more vocal users who are not registering… If you are looking for the original layout, I moved its colors over to this as well, and It’s ready to roll. Only catch is that you have to login if you want to use it. There is a new link up top as well, that forwards you to a new page that will eventually become a full listing of everything that I have released on gneu.org or its subsidiaries. I hope that all helps you guys, and where there are issues, please, don’t be shy. I don’t bite, any more.
For those of you who are on that myspace garbage, I have again opened up my acct in order to keep in touch with a few of my long time friends that i really can’t do without. and will be open for discussion as to how it gets skinned in the near future.
I will be around, preparing my PHP db classes/framework for release in the coming two days.

Letter to the HL2 Mod Community
(No Ratings Yet) Loading ...I began modding Source in January of 2005. I spent just about every day of the next two years doing everything in my power, free time permitting, to help the amateur modders get accustomed to the drama and pure unadulterated bullshit that was lurking just out of their sight. I was there when the community came together and I have been here watching it dwindle into the dark corner of the room that no one dares look. There is no doubt in my mind that the Source Engine is feeling under used, under appreciated and sad. More shocking to me, even though I have more than devoted two years of my life to it, a dark portion of my heart is very glad to see it as such.

Chronicles of Swallowbush - An exercise in user tracking
(No Ratings Yet) Loading ...Users - we have all been one at some point in our lives. The concept of being one is very straight forward. We users navigate to a site and are unknowingly a part of a case study being conducted by a person or group of people controlling the website we have chosen to land on. Our habits, search phrases, and personal information (I’m not talking credit cards…) are all subject to the developer’s needs and intelligence; if they choose to keep track of who I am and what I like on their site it will be very beneficial to them. This is the first in a possible series of more technical journeys into Swallowbush, and PHP in general.
