This is perhaps the most useful free application i have ever come across over the web. Please consult the following video. Its basically a KM switching software and it works seamlessly across operating systems. Currently i have an escher like layout, going up to any of the edges of the monitor that i use here at work will swap the mouse and keyboard inputs to the other system. So effectively, with the use of the abilty to have my monitors with multiple sources i have the freedom to have four monitors, where three exist normally.

Quite a cool find i must say. Give it a try =)

Email Response - What do you look for in a mod team?

Often in the mornings I wake up with a question on my mind that is lying at the heart of some conflict that I am enduring at that time. Should I continue with school; why do we have so much suffering in the world; where is my god damned naked girlfriend when I need her? The questions go on and on. This morning I awoke with an odd predicament. Why the hell do people that are uneducated in the software engineering process, who are aspiring to ultimately be a part of it, choose to hide from the processes that would allow them to not only succeed, but to better understand it?

This seemingly complex and convoluted question is really what lies at the heart of all of the negative experiences that have gone on within the mod and indy game development communities. I have yet to have my big break or find a team destined for stardom that actually attains their goals. Without fail, every project I have come to is strictly abhorrent to the ideas that allow software, or anything else for that matter, to be created. The team, en masse, chooses to shy away from process for fear that it will lead to bureaucracy and tension within the ranks.

Al on Atheism as a Religion

I’ve been following this discussion for some time. It seems to be the concensus that the religious people are forcing us into a corner, labeling us and our lack of dogma or belief systems as well as our all around skepticism as another religion. This claim is not just baseless and unsubstantiated, it shows the utter lack of understanding of their own faith.

I spent a bit of time last night reading Joel’s book and came to the conclusion that my site is too complex for what i need it to do. This morning i condensed my forums down and spent some time adding a couple other tweaks to the site (including installing slim box).

I hope you guys are able to approve.

The last week or so i have been working towards a release of the obj2smd converter that allows multiple textures. Its gone swimmingly moving from the chaos of my pointers and linked list from two years ago to the stl list and map libraries that i use now. Pretty cool i must say.

Usage:

obj2smd.exe thisismy.obj -image slime.tga -image slime2.tga

I am currently working with my testers to get things ironed out.

Keep your eyes open.
