today in Wordpress
A few of you may have already been given links to the new WordPress location, but for those of you who have been out of the loop, enjoy. Today I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out some of the details of WordPress and had a hell of a time screwing my head back on with YouTube embedding. I will kill this link when I get finished with the migration. Currently it is all fufu. I have been playing with the editor and what not, and the most important thing to note is that I am thoroughly impressed with WordPress.Save one thing.
Which only made me like it more. =)

Moving to Wordpress
I have made the decision to get out of drupal at this point in time. Drupal has kept me rolling for about a year now, but i am really not too happy with it currently, and its plugin options are lacking. Expect this change to be completed in the coming week. =)

Console development
this weekend I finally faced the situation and with some assistance from a new friend and an old one, I finally got the console framed out and mechanics working, as I want them to be. Let’s take a walk through it though!
First, you should know that CEGUI is providing the GUI Framework to build this app out. As I said a couple days ago, using libraries is one of the most important things that I am planning to take advantage of. CEGUI is a complicated, and very similar to slamming the concepts of coding JavaScript and HTML with VB or C++ GUI development (Lots of function pointers and dealing with events). Woo hoo! The code is freely available, and although very messy currently because it is not in its own class yet, it is working mechanically.

specialization - Enjoy it
I read an article a while ago, but it never really occurred to me how important it really is. In my philosophy class yesterday we got into a discussion about human nature and how Hobbes was focused on the idea that man is selfish, in all situations and thereby needs a strong government to control them and keep them civil. John Locke, one of our founding philosophers has a different idea, that people are civil because they are forced to be good-natured and need to work together in order to form societies.
Working together implies separating tasks, specialization and segregation. As a developer this means that I will not be able to, and technically don’t need to, do everything. I can ignore some aspects of the development and rely on other peoples libraries and instead focus on bringing together the ideas that are more abstract and interesting, like bringing together my game ideas.
Specialization seems to be one of those topics that gets a lot of bad wrap, and probably because of the net bubble popping and how the super saturated environment took a nose dive because no one knew much of anything. Specialization seems to have brought itself back into the spotlight in software development because there are far too many people trying to accomplish far too much, and those who have decided to only be eight trick ponies seem to be able to push through the fray.

Bad Code
I have some serious issues with what I am about to say, but please bear with me.
Development is as much an art, as much a science, as much a skilled and science driven thing, as air is fun to breathe. Sometimes I get energetic about being able to expand my rib cage and feel the cool air flowing through into my lungs, helping me expand them more, and I continue expanding until I cannot quite expand them any more and I sit. I stretch out my rib cage, allowing my muscles to wonder when they are going to receive their oxygen and close my eyes. It is a lot like holding my breath, only I am not intending to turn blue.

squirrel Binding - Check
Although I don’t have any dope screenshots to show much off in regards to this, I want you all to know that Ogre and Squirrel are bound. It’s literally dirt simple and yes, my mother can do it. Allow me to get into some discussion about what I intend to drive with the scripting language, beyond the blanket statement “As much as I can!”
So, basically, what Squirrel provides me is a means of developing in Ogre without having to recompile the DLL’s, and possibly, without even having to restart the engine. Squirrel’s virtual machine/interpreter is run concurrently with the engine, and has ties into any aspect I want to be driven by it. My intentions are quite simply, to be able to develop quickly, without having too much hassle to deal with.

CRap of the future
I usually try to keep my thoughts on modern music to myself but I am a bit overwhelmed at this point in time with the latest garbage album ive heard. But first a little back story, explaining why I decided to track it down.
In short, Black people. Yes, I said it, Black people. They are the masters of making things look fucking cool. Timbaland Boots, Shirts that are far too long for their torso’s, and now Soulja Boy. For those of you who haven’t already seen this dance you are in for a treat. He has a video on youtube showing how to do it.
